A licensee is sought who will receive an exclusive license, or licenses, under foreign (non-U.S.) patent applications for the invention (control mat monitor) disclosed by U.S. patent 6,281,803 in exchange for assuming responsibility, with the full cooperation of the licensor, for the prosecution of such foreign patent applications.
The control mat monitor disclosed by U.S. patent 6,281,803 provides continuous monitoring of the electrical performance characteristics of a control (or switch) mat to which it is attached, while the mat remains in normal routine use. The device provides early warning of deterioration of the electrical characteristics of the mat so that, in the event of deterioration, the mat can be removed from service and replaced in a timely manner.
The device also compensates for deterioration of the electrical performance characteristics of the control mat so that a proper and appropriate presence detection signal can continue to be generated, by the device, significantly beyond the point that the mat would otherwise be capable of proper operation of the door, or other function.
The purpose of the device is to enhance public and industrial safety by greatly reducing the possibility of an accident arising from unsuspected control mat functional deterioration. In the automatic pedestrian door industry within the United States, the device also serves to augment the Daily Safety Check and the Control Mat Sensitivity Test specified by the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) A156.10 national standard for power operated pedestrian doors.
