Automatic Door Expert Witness

Warren F. Davis, Ph.D., has served as an expert witness in more than 225 legal cases involving automatic pedestrian doors since 1993.   He holds two U.S. patents (5,481,266 and 6,281,803) related to such doors, and has served in cases involving all types of doors – sliding, folding, swinging and revolving – and virtually every major manufacturer operating within the United States.

Dr. Davis was the first to identify and explain the "triple design flaw" exhibited by conventional microwave motion sensors, and also the effects of poor IR (infrared) reflectivity on the detection reliability of active IR presence sensors used on swinging doors.   He was also the first to call for closed-loop sensor design to enhance door safety.

Dr. Davis' services as an expert witness or consulting expert in the area of automatic pedestrian doors are available.   Additional information is provided by, and can be downloaded from, the following links.
